Bellingham 2006 After all the events in Belgium in July, it was nice to escape to a typically beautiful summer in the American Pacific Northwest. Or so we thought. With yet another reception for local friends and family, the celebrations continued. That and the usual tree-hugging, mountain walking and deer chasing..

Yes! Ja! a wedding in Belgium After five years together it was time to take the next step. To help celebrate, family and friends (including a priest and a Hell's Angel) came in from the three regions of Belgium, the UK, France, Germany, the Netherlands, Greece, Spain, Portugal, Washington, California, Virginia, Massachussetts and even Japan. No politics, thank you, just the happiest and most natural thing to do in the world.

Aloha! If you're going to fly 12 time zones away to the other side of the planet from Europe, you'd better have a good reason for doing so. What better reason than going on your honeymoon? Hawaii may have become "just another part of rural America but with better heating", but our treks into the volcano and our lush private estate were up to the occasion.
Hallowe'en with the Mouse What better way to welcome Autumn (or anything else for that matter) than to take a weekend in Paris. We head down with friends Peggy and Koen to see Paris by night and... Disneyland by day. Luc's first trip to a Disneypark and a reunion with the popular culture of my own childhood.

Giving Thanks 2006 Our usual trip to California for Thanksgiving was modified this year, and we ended up spending the actual holiday with my parents up in Bellingham. A strange contrast between the sunny Bay Area and the grey and chill of late Fall in the Northwest. But as usual well worth such a long but short trip.

Cléopatra Capo D'Istria Live in Antwerp In early December we had the extremely rare privilege to see a private concert of world-famous Greek Alto Cléopatra Capo D'Istria, sung in the drawing room of an elegant 19th century Antwerp mansion. A few images from what was mainly film recordings.

Carnival in Aalst 2007 The capital of carnival in Dutch-speaking Belgium does itself proud with its annual whirlwind of tradition, irreverence and lots and lots (and lots) of good Belgian beer.
