Dubai 2008
A quick trip to the Gulf, to meet and organise a training session for new sales Agents in the area.  It was also
time to hand the region over to one of my younger Sales Managers for daily follow up.  I'll never get to travel
anywhere fun any more!   Once again parts of the city were practically unrecognisable since my last visit.
Few places in the world change so quickly, as measured by the ever climbing Burj Dubai, the world's tallest
tower.  What is interesting to note is that Dubai is not just constantly renewing itself, but actually starting to
copy itself, as shown by the Madinat, complete with a cleaner more tourist-friendly version of Dubai Creek.

Luxury springing up from the sand.   After landing, off to our bright bright shiny shiny luxury hotel for a conference with new guys from around the region, from Saudi Arabia to Iran.
Back to the tiny historic district in Bur Dubai, made all the more beautiful by moonlight.  Dubai Creek now seems small and old fashioned.  Free fireworks for those who can't afford the Shopping Festival.
After a hard day's work, some relaxation.   The Burj Dubai thrusts up towards the stratosphere.  More Shanghai-style bright bright shiny shiny towers.  Pity there's not much of a view during sandstorms.
For those who find the original Dubai too downscale, a completely new Creek, filled with luxury restaurants at the Madinat, complete with great views of the iconic Burj al Arab.
Too many Indians and Pakistanis in the old bazars?  Shop with other Europeans and rich Gulf-types at the carefully copied Madinat.  Don't forget your Seattle's best coffee.  Yes, they have Starbuck's too.
Chill out (literally) on the indoor ski runs in the Mall of the Emirates, coveniently close to Ralph Lauren.    Shaking our Ayatollahs on an Iranian dinner cruise on the Creek.
